The new public administration building in the center of Velenje represents a mature architectural answer to the question of how to build in a modern way in a city with such a strong and specific identity. Instead of a radical break, the project chooses to pursue the path of searching for contextual continuity. Inspired by post-war modernism, which defined Velenje as a "city in a park", the building not only fills the empty urban fabric, but also condenses and gives it meaning, using classical building principles and the aesthetic language of its predecessors.

Its placement in space is strategic and symbolic. The western facade establishes a clear street edge and gives the city much-needed place-forming weight, while the eastern side softly opens towards the central park and the representative platform. The key element of the building is its ground-floor design. By understanding Velenje as a space of free pedestrian movement, the architecture on the ground floor does not pose an impassable barrier. On the contrary – it skillfully guides the existing pedestrian path through its body, thus preserving the vitality of urban communications and integrating public space directly into its design.

The aesthetics of the building summarizes the rationalism and elegance of Velenje modernism. Clean lines, rhythmic repetition of window openings and a thoughtful selection of materials reflect the dignity of a public institution that wants to be permanent and timeless. It is architecture that does not scream for attention, but with its restrained presence and respect for the scale of the surroundings, proves that modern administrative functions can be placed within the historical framework of a modernist city in a way that strengthens its homogeneity and urban quality.
